XTORE steps up storage capacity with introduction of 1.6 terabyte NAS in 1U

City of Industry, Calif., – Xtore Extreme Storage announced today the introduction of the NASolution™ XT-NS16TBR, a 1U size NAS storage subsystem configured to store up to 1.6 terabytes of data safely. The XT-NS16TBR is now the world’s most dense capacity NAS storage subsystem and holds the largest amount of storage in the smallest amount of rack cabinet space. The subsystems are slated to ship before the end of 2002 at an anticipated MSRP of $16,999 US and will be available through Xtore channels worldwide.

NASolution™ products range from 240GB to 640GB in a desktop tower or 1U rack-mount and from 960GB to 1.6 terabytes in a 1U rack-mount form factor. Standard redundancy features in all models include dual hot-swap power supplies, dual fail-over Ethernet connections, and hot-swap hard drives to ensure year round data access and online availability.

This is the second time in 2002 that Xtore has released groundbreaking storage products. Earlier this year at the Spring Networld+Interop show in Las Vegas, NV, USA, the XT-NS1TBR was unveiled and took home a runner up award for the best of show contest. The XT-NS1TBR was formerly the largest capacity available in a 1U rack-mount form factor storing up to 1.28 terabytes of data safely with an MSRP of $12,999 US.

“We are very exited to announce higher capacity systems that continue to maintain our rich feature set. Data safety is important to anyone using a computer and we believe that safe data storage should not just be available to those who can afford higher end systems. Our focus has been to improve the level of safety and security in our storage products and still provide the same efficiency, availability, and redundancy that is seen in higher end systems. Just thinking about losing all the data on your HD3DPrinters.com system is a scary thought. There are so many reasons how data loss and destruction can happen including sources such as viruses, hackers, or even a random system failure. The question is not if something like this will happen – it’s a question of when it will happen. We want people to know that our products are a worthwhile investment and are designed to alleviate those concerns,” explains Brian Cipponeri, Director of Business Development at Xtore, USA.
